Se 5 Ep 8 Shawn 2.0
Here's the 1st Nestor Carbonell (Lost, The Tick) episode. And of course features Curt Smith from Tears For Fears playing a version of himself, along with his synth-pop/hop version of the Psych Theme.
This was a few weeks ago, so the conversation obviously has a timely perspective. I waited until I could capture some of those clips at the beginning. I haven't re-listened to the entire thing, but I recall much of the conversation ends up about the rest of Season 5 (or 5.5) along with some of the recent sound issues of course. And Curt Smith's lack of providing a link to his version of theme (nor access to his website without a certain piece of software). Mainly this one ended up being a bit longer than some other episodes of late.
Also two references that I note, but maybe nobody else caught: Porcupine Tree and Ghost World. And maybe at somepoint, Tears For Fears/Spock's Beard/Prog Rock (like Porcupine Tree) Drummer Nick D'Virgilio.
The Scene in the cafe at the beginning alluding to the scene 23 seconds in here.

Se5 Ep 9 "One Maybe Two Ways Out"
Well this is is the the most recent episode of Psych, the Season 5 Summer/5.0/Half-Season Finale. This guest-starred Franka Potente from Run Lola Run and the Bourne franchise. Along with Jon Gries (Lost, Real Genius, Napoleon Dynamite) and C Thomas Howell (Soul Man, The Outsiders), and Nestor Carbonell (Lost, The Tick) again.
One note that I believe I discovered that we didn't realize when we recorded this. The "Barry" reference I think is referring to The Flash character Barry. I suppose I haven't seen the Video commentary yet on this episode, but it wouldn't surprise me if that was the reference. Having listened to the Pinapple Radio podcast about this episode as well, they mentioned looking for what or who Barry is, and they came up puzzled as well. Don't be surprised to find out it is The Flash on the Season 5 DVDs and other places.
There is frequent clipping from John's microphone. The reason being, in interest to avoid hearing the breathing, I told him either to try turning it off when he wasn't speaking or move it away. He turned it off. I obviously didn't realize it was making this sound when we were recording. AND I TRIED TO EDIT OUT EVERY SINGLE INSTANCE OF IT. But unfortunately, it ended up not removing all clipping and cutting a lot various words and phrases I and John said, that it came out sounding MUCH WORSE. Obviously, that is something that we can avoid again, but given the lack of desire to take the time to talk about and edit another file for this episode, this will have to do. I suppose it's still not as bad as the breathing, and it can be heard a bit like a radio show when there is severe weather. There's often those kinds of static clipping on the air, like on this recording.

Se 5 Ep 6 Viagra Falls
download
So, playing a bit of catchup here, this is the noteworthy episode with Shawn and Gus as older detectives, or Proto-Shawn y Gus? Bill DeVane and Carl Weathers. Now that at some level, the ability to capture sound clips from videos is viable, we are back to the sound to fit the theme of the episode. This one with The Beatles and Ricky Nelson. Although now thinking about it, the Rocky Theme would have also fit, but so be it. Maybe another time..perhaps Psych will do a Boxing-themed episode at some point.
edit: given this is using the cheap built-in soundcard (and with a miniplug splitter into it's microphone jack), and the fact the wave files coming through that way seem to be microscopic, I have to Boost the Gain with Audacity to 100%, and as a result, there appears to be a fair amount of static. Apologies again (broken record).
The hope/plan is to look into a "Boom Microphone" rather soon. Either that, being able to fix the Latency problem (that is/was causing the Dalek/Davors feedback) with the Pre-Amp + this PC with a "DPC Latency Checker" or using some other piece of software. Because hearing static like that, like the breathing, just ain't gonna cut-it.

Se4 Ep16 "Mr. Yin Presents"
Download
This is the 2nd part/episode of the Yang/Yin trilogy that is very Hitchcockian themed. One of if not the most impressive episodes visually among other things. So we had a fair amount to say about it of course. It also saw apparently the demise of Mary along with the return of course of Ally Sheedy and Rachel Leigh Cook. RLC who knows if this is her last episode given Shawn and Abigail are broken up, but if so, it was a memorable way to go out.
I suppose in a few months when the final episode/part of the trilogy is shown in the 5th Season finale, it might be worth putting all 3 of these podcasts together. Or maybe do 1 extensive podcast in the offseason about the whole trilogy story if it warrants it.

The Jeri Ryan Shark episode. Michael Hogan, whose been on a lot of shows ever since Battlestar Galactica (2003) finished, also was on this one.
Se4 Ep 14 Think Tank
Download
this is the episode with Bruce Davison and the Think Tank, obviously. Shawn was sort of in a slump on this. John and I still wonder if the voice in the John Cena episode could be connected to Bruce Davison's character, given he knows all that stuff about both Shawn and Gus.
The guest stars are pretty good besides Davison, with Sandra Hess, Miguel Ferrer, and Chris Sarandon, who in a slightly related note. I noticed the other day, about a Fright Night remake is being made starring David Tennant and Colin Farrell. Maybe he'll end up in a cameo in it.

This is the virus episode with Judd Nelson. And the writers milked the corn nuts reference. John as you can tell, is less than impressed with the corn nuts and Judd Nelson's work on this. It's unfortunate since going-in, it looked rather cool to notice Judd Nelson showing up, and the show adding to their brat-pack alumni of guest-stars.

This is the Extreme Sports episode where Gus introduces his girlfriend to Shawn. Of course since this, we haven't heard a word about Sarah Shahi's character at all, lol. And in this past week's episode (Shawn 2.0) Gus mentions he's dating someone new, but I'd assume it wasn't her.
Like Gary Cole and Cybil Shepherd, the Sarah Shahi's absence remains a mystery to us fans. At least in Shawn 2.0 they brought back Gina (from Shawn Takes a Shot in the Dark) so they are getting better with bringing some characters/actors back.
-This episode as I mentioned, almost reminded of Dennis Hopper/Crispin Glover/Keanu Reeveas late 80's film The Rivers Edge
-This episode could have been titled "Murder With Stu"

This podcast was recorded on Easter Sunday April 7th, 2010. And I thought it was a double with the Ray Wise episode that originally aired before it. But alas, not the case having now relistened to it. It was kind of a short one as I recall we didn't exactly have a ton of time and/or we may have recorded 1 or 2 others that afternoon, so it's truncated at this point. But due to another out-of-balance and John's nasal breathing on the mic, it's probably for the best.

James + Maggie = Kevin Pollak Show
Kevin Pollak's Chat Show Homepage
Kevin Pollak's Chat Show Youtube Page

I'm not sure if this has been talked about a lot, namely during the downtime between Season 4 and the current 5th Season, but I just stumbled upon this for the 1st time tonight.
It's a web talk show Kevin Pollak does, live on Sundays I guess. And it also includes the hilarious Samm Levine (Freaks and Geeks).
Shules or whatever you want to call them, appeared back in April sometime. It's a rather nice conversation with both James and Maggie's background. And it's also mentioned how Kevin and Samm may find their way onto an episode of Psych, which would be awesome.
James and Maggie appear about 18 minutes into the show.
based on some of the other guests, I probably will have to go back to Kevin Pollak's youtube page and watch some of the others, even as long as they are. Neil Patrick-Harris, LeVar Burton and some others. And Bryan Cranston and Jason Alexander are scheduled in the coming weeks/months. I suppose with Kevin Pollak and Samm Levine together, the one obvious guest that would be perfect would be William Shatner. Perhaps that will happen, and/or Kevin Pollak will show up on Shatner's talk show Raw Nerve on the Biography channel as well. (Kevin Pollak and Samm Levine are noted at doing William Shatner impersonations. Jason Alexander as well actually).
I suppose some words about this appearance may come in one of our future podcasts as well.
